Semantic catalog
Audience: Tenant admin, data team
Goal: Curate business-friendly definitions that improve natural-language query accuracy.
After schema discovery, Edge Agents upload semantic models to BI Core. The Semantic catalog is where data teams review entities, metrics, and relationships.
Browse the catalog
- Open Semantic catalog (
/semantic).

Figure: Models, entities, and metrics for your tenant.
- Review models linked to datasources.
- Open a model to inspect entities, metrics, versions, and provenance.
Why it matters
The semantic layer gives PrismBI a shared vocabulary—Customer, Revenue, Active subscription—so business prompts map to the correct tables and columns.
Tips
- Align metric names with how business users speak in meetings.
- Update the catalog after major warehouse modeling changes.
- Pair semantic tuning with Knowledge spaces for policy and definition documents.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| Empty catalog | Run schema discovery on the datasource first |
| Wrong joins in Explore | Add or correct relationships in the semantic model |
| Stale metrics | Trigger metadata refresh from datasource actions |
